"Mudboned" Musk Ox and Willow Bow Sheep Drop Point aka "The Chicken Knife"

This new Cunninghammer Custom Shop drop point is forged from 52100 ball bearing steel and measures a little over 4" from tip to guard with a razor sharp convex grind and finger grip riccasso. The steel is triple quench / heat treated and is optimized into a blade that you can depend your life on- truly. Testing includes extensive manilla rope cuts as well as an edge chip test via steel rod. The brass guard is milled, hand-filed, cold-forged, staked and soldered to the tang above Willow Bow Sheep horn spacers and an oustanding musk ox handle. Upon grinding, a cavity in the musk ox revealed that I hadn't seen in the rough shaping but rather than scrap the handle I sent it to Mudbone for some of his carving magic and he did not dissappoint! To really boot it off, he carved a gorgeous eagle feather pouch sheath and I could not be more pleased. 

 

During the making of this knife, Goose, my red fox lab, got into a herd of chickens that were not hers to get into. In the midst of replacing the chickens, I was invited to test this knife by the poultry rancher and it has been so dubbed "the Chicken Knife" by Jay Gillespie, the owner to whom I am ever-grateful!
