Rustic Micarta Drop Point

This raw drop point was a really fun concept to make from start to finish. The blade is strong enough to save a life despite the misleading sleek profile. The steel is 52100 forged from a 2" round bar with this one measuring 4" from tip to guard with a razor sharp 3D convex grind. I left it in the etch a little longer than the usual soak to bring out the carbides- you can see just how strong this blade is at the tip... you will not break it. 

 

The brass guard is cold forged, staked and soldered from the underside with black, white, gray and antique brick fiber spacers that top a rustic micarta handle that's filled with copper. Overall length measures 8 1/4" and it comes in a custom Cunninghammer leather sheath.
