Vintage Canvas Micarta Recurve Drop Point

This little bruiser is hand forged from 52100 ball bearings and it measures just about 4 1/2” from tip to guard with a razor sharp three dimensional convex grind, but the magic is in the week-long heat treat process that ensures the steel fully optimized. The extended riccasso is intended to for a choked up grind, allowing the brass guard to act like a sub-hilt between the trigger and middle fingers. The brass is staked from the bottom side before I soldered in in place to the tang for a completely homogenous unit. Roger Mudbone Jones sent me a selection of handle material as a gift and in it was this 3/8” thick vintage micarta, so I epoxy two slabs together with maroon and fiber vulcanized fiber to make a block of my own. The tang runs well beyond the first copper pin, and I added a second for visual balance and double down assurance on the handle construction. I did not brutalize this one to the full extent, but my mentor, Ed Fowler, assured this knife would more than sustain high level abuses. The overall length measures a little over 8 1/2” and I suggest this knife for a medium-ish glove sized hand. It comes in one of my custom pouch sheaths as well as a zipper case noting this as one of my first ten knives. The blade is marked GC and the sheath features my Jolly Cunninghammer stamp. I guarantee this knife and sheath for hard use for life.
